IN CINDY’S WORDS
A few years back, I decided I wanted to significantly change who I was. Everything seemed so challenging and I was exhausted from trying to make things happen. I craved a new life, my old life just wasn’t working for me anymore.
I asked myself some honest questions and this began my journey to transformation:
1. Who am I now and who do I want to be?
2. What do I feel passionate about?
3. What is serving me in my current life and what isn’t?
My path to discovering these answers began to happen only after I really committed to surrendering to the unknown. I had no expectations, but I needed to seek out new opportunities and really experience what was out there. I was scared, but I took a leap of faith and embarked on a journey that would change my life forever.
I’ve always connected to animals and nature, as I truly believe they nourish our soul. As a trained acupuncturist, I also believe in the ability to heal ourselves—body, mind, and spirit. This vision, self-awareness, and sense of purpose is what I wanted to connect with again.
I looked for an adventure that would support me on this journey. I decided to go to Miraval Ranch in Arizona for their equine (horse-led) experience. Horses have the innate ability to bring out our most authentic selves. We all have the answers inside of us, but sometimes it takes a magical connection to help us find these answers.
One of the most transformative experiences at the Miraval Ranch was a leadership exercise in which I was asked to guide an unharnessed horse using only my energy and intention. I was asked to move the horse to walk, trot, canter and to turn them around. I remember thinking, 'how am I ever going to do this?'
As I entered the arena, I took a deep breath and grounded myself so I was present. I focused only on the horse and was aware of my energy so I immediately connected with him. He responded with grace and moved with me as I lifted my energy to guide him. When I let go of my thoughts and trusted the experience, I realized how powerful intentions and energy are in any moment and this is what true leadership represents.
When I returned home from Miraval I knew I was ready for a completely new approach to my life and being. I began on a journey of working with several brands on transformation. I worked with leaders and teams on structure and cultural assessments and implementing project management tools to help improve workflow. Many teams appreciated my honest, hands-on approach, my willingness to listen, my positivity, and my ability to help them see a new possibility, however challenging it may have seemed.
Two years later, I've partnered with several brands and have helped them to implement change. I supported them in their transformation and guided individuals from all levels of leadership. Change is not easy, but understanding that it is a journey we take together has been invaluable to my clients, and to myself as I continue to evolve and expand within this realm.
